You must have a passport to enter the Bahamas, and just as important, YOU NEED A PASSPORT TO GET BACK INTO THE UNITED STATES! Customs and Immigration will not allow you to bring in alcohol, tobacco, drugs or produce. You are permitted to bring frozen meat, canned goods, dry food (rice, pasta) but no fresh produce.
When you arrive you will be given a Bahamas immigration card to complete. If you are on vacation, do not check the box which says the purpose of your visit is to do work on the island. If you are going to perform any work on the island, then you need a work permit.
