When we go to Eleuthera, we typically fly into Fort Lauderdale and catch a Continental Connection,or Twin Air flight to Governor’s Harbor (GHB).   American Airlines has direct flights to Governor’s Harbour from Miami.

If you can’t find a convenient flight to GHB, you can fly into: Rock Sound (RSD), 30 minutes south of our house or North ELeuthera (ELH), about an hour north of our house. From either of these airports you can take a taxi to Double Bay for roughly $50 – $90, or pick up a rental car.

There are no national rental car agencies on the island.  The local companies will have a car at the airport for you

Chartered air flights are very convenient in terms of wait and scheduling.  We’ve recently discovered Bahamas Express which handles private charters and often serves Governors Harbour. Check out their website at www.flybahamasexpress.com.

Another option is going through Nassau. There are numerous daily flights to and from Governors’ Harbour, and they connect in Nassau to every major U.S. city. It is the largest city in the Bahamas and a major port for cruise ships. The shopping and nightlife are great and spending a couple of days in Nassau either before or after you stay at Wish is a fun change of pace. You can get to Eleuthera from Nassau via a 20 minute BahamasAir flight, or you can take the 2 hour “Fast Ferry” directly to Governor’s Harbor.
